Job Summary

The Inventory Planning Specialist is responsible for forecasting demand, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the efficient distribution of medical devices across multiple warehouses and customer locations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product availability, minimizing excess or obsolete stock, and supporting regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to align supply with demand and continuously improve inventory processes to support business goals and customer satisfaction.


Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute effective inventory planning strategies to ensure optimal availability of medical devices across distribution centers and customer locations.

  • Forecast demand by analyzing sales trends, healthcare facility requirements, seasonality, and market data to maintain accurate and balanced stock levels.

  • Monitor inventory across all warehouse locations and manage replenishment to minimize shortages, stockouts, and excess inventory.

  • Implement and maintain a standardized Min/Max inventory planning system across all facilities to improve replenishment efficiency and enhance service levels.

  • Establish a monitoring system for aged, near-expiry, or slow-moving inventory; proactively alert the sales team to prioritize liquidation or redistribution.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, regulatory, logistics, and sales teams to align supply planning with operational and customer needs.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, GMP) for the proper handling, storage, and traceability of medical devices.

  • Track and manage product shelf life, expiration dates, and lot numbers to ensure product integrity and support recall readiness.

  • Prepare and present regular inventory performance reports to management, highlighting risks, trends, and recommended corrective actions.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to manage lead times, resolve backorders, and optimize order schedules.

  • Support product launches, discontinuations, and recalls with strategic inventory planning and risk mitigation.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve inventory processes, tools, and systems to increase operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Tertiary and above certification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of proven experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain management, preferably in the medical device or healthcare sector.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and demand planning tools.

  • Solid understanding of inventory management principles, forecasting techniques, and supply chain best practices.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across departments and influence decision-making.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environment.
