Job Summary
The Software Automation Engineer II -Embedded Software is a motivated and collaborative engineer with experience developing and maintaining automated test solutions for embedded software systems. This individual works closely with software developers, test engineers, and product teams to improve software quality through effective automation. They contribute to the development of automated testing frameworks, execute automated verification activities, and support continuous improvement efforts within an Agile development environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Python programming, software testing methodologies, and automation principles. They are passionate about quality, enjoy solving technical challenges, and are eager to expand their knowledge of automation technologies and medical device software development.
Essential Functions
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts and supporting tools for embedded software applications.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of automated test frameworks used to verify software within software-driven electro-mechanical medical devices.
- Collaborate with software developers, test engineers, and product teams to identify automation opportunities and improve test coverage.
- Support the integration and execution of automated tests within CI/CD environments.
- Review software requirements to ensure adequate verification coverage.
- Analyze test results, investigate failures, document defects, and work with engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting automation framework, test environment, and test fixture issues.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and other Agile SDLC activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to testing methodologies, automation processes, and quality practices.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of automation frameworks, test procedures, and verification results.
- Support validation and maintenance of automated test fixtures and equipment used for software verification.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in software development, software test automation, or software verification, or an advanced degree in lieu of professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience programming in Python or a comparable object-oriented programming language.
- Experience developing, executing, or maintaining automated test solutions.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- *Experience with Pytest or similar automated test frameworks.
- *Experience testing embedded software or hardware/software integrated systems.
- *Experience using SSH for remote access, automation, and troubleshooting.
- *Familiarity with Jenkins or similar continuous integration tools.
- *Familiarity with Git or similar source control systems.
- *Familiarity with Google Test (gTest) framework for C++ unit testing.
- *Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and network troubleshooting fundamentals.

The annual salary for this position is:
$96,400.00 to $107,000.00This position is eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the company's bonus plan. Factors which may affect starting salary include geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
